Organizational Patterns Ways To Organize The Body of Your Speech

Chronological Pattern Puts things in a time sequence or in order in which they happened. Excellent choice to show audience the parts of your speech building in a complete picture from beginning to end. Chronological Pattern

This allows you to save your most important point for last. Organizing your main headings in order of importance. Builds your speech in order of significance and allows for a dramatic impact. Climatic Pattern

Dividing up your topic on the basis of space relationships. Shows your audience how the body of your speech fits together by the spatial layout of the picture you create for them. Spatial Pattern

Cause-Effect Pattern Because of that, this happened In other words, the one area (the cause) leads directly to the other area (the effect). Often the words “cause and effect” will be used and the supporting material will supply the analysis. Cause-Effect Pattern

Problem-Solution Pattern Presents a problem and then provides ideas about how the problem can be solved. As with the cause-effect pattern, this method is very logical and gives an opportunity to show some insightful analysis in areas that are easy for your audience to follow. Problem-Solution Pattern

Organizational Patterns You can combine organizational patterns Example: problem-solution with the cause- effect pattern **Remember the body of your speech is the majority of your speech and organizational patterns help your audience follow your ideas. Organizational Patterns
