D'ANDREA TOOLS: USE AND MAINTENANCE

Material only for internal use: absolutely NO copies in the market. Photos, drawings, tech. info, logos etc. under D’Andrea property. UM/A/07

MAKE SURE THE RADIAL PIN DOES MHD' MODULHARD'ANDREA USE AND MAINTENANCE MHD’ SYSTEM For perfect MHD’ assembly and accuracy, clean the cylindrical-conical parts in order to guarantee rigidity and concentricity. This device will also prevent damage to contact surfaces. Before assembling the chosen element, MAKE SURE THE RADIAL PIN DOES NOT PROJECT FROM THE CYLINDRICAL PART! If elements are to be clamped for a long period of time, we recommends to lubrificate the cylindrical-conical faces. It is also necessary to lubrificate the expanding pin with anti-scuff grease (i.e. copper slip). 1

MHD' MODULHARD'ANDREA WARNING! GENERAL INFORMATION FOR USE FINE BORING HEADS Don’t touch all red screw! WARNING! The arrow indicates SLIDE MOVEMENT DIRECTION Rotate the Vernier scale counter-clockwise for positive slide adjustment (+). Remove backlash each time the Vernier dial’s rotation is reversed. The insert holders position is normally set on a tool presetting bench. The graduate scale on insert holders simplifies and quickens the identification of the desired working diameter. Adjustment screws simply the insert holders setting. 2

TRM TESTAROSSA LINE HOW TO ADJUST TRM HEADS To avoid mistakes, the insert symbol is marked on slide for correct positioning. Before micrometric adjustment loosen the slide locking screw. Perform micrometric adjustment and tighten the slide lock screw. Use the supplied screw driver hexagonal wrench without over-tightening. The internal kinematics is preset. For this reason red colored screws should never be touched in order not compromise the correct operation of TRM or BF. Keep the slide runners clean, lubrificating weekly with ISO UNI G220 oil. Models TRM 50-63-80-125 are equipped with a lubrificator on the slide. 3

TRM TESTAROSSA LINE HOW TO BALANCE TRM WITH BLC RING For all high speed machining up to 20.000 RPM G6,3 where the unbalance must be reduced to a minimum, D’Andrea offers two TRM balanceable heads (TRM 32 HSB – TRM 50 HSB, see next pages) and BLC adaptor balancing rings for existing standard tools. Remove the plastic guard ring. Insert the BLC ring and lock the screws. Fine adjust TRM head according standard procedure. Balance the tool with balancing machine. 4

TRM TESTAROSSA LINE HOW TO BALANCE TRM-HSB HEADS WITHOUT BALANCING MACHINE Adjust TRM-HSB head according standard procedure. Positioning the two counterweights into the graduated groove according the position for W1 and W2 (see next Pages) and lock the screws. 1) 2) The attached tables (see next pages) indicate where the two weights must be positioned according to: TRM-HS type Tool and arbor Diameter to be machined The residual unbalance is less than 10 gr. X mm. 5

TRC TESTAROSSA LINE HOW TO ADJUST TRC and TRC-HS HEADS Before micrometric adjustment loosen the slide locking screw. Perform micrometric adjustment and tighten the slide lock screw. Use the supplied screw driver hexagonal wrench without over-tightening. The internal kinematics is preset. For this reason red colored screws should never be touched in order not compromise the correct operation of the head. Keep the slide runners clean, lubrificating weekly with ISO UNI G220 oil. Models TRC 50-63-80 are equipped with a lubrificator on the slide. Referring standard TRC, solution -HS is pre-balanced: you can use ~+20% higher parameters on nominal diameter. 9

25,65 mm MICROMETRIC VERNIER SCALE Mr. CALIPER DO YOU REMEMBER A VERY FAMOUS OLD MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENT? 25,65 mm Mr. CALIPER Well: TRC and TRD Vernier scale, using the same system as caliper: THE LINES COLLIMATION 25,Y... -> 25,YZ.. -> 25,YZK. -> 25,YZKJ 10

TRD TESTAROSSA LINE HOW TO ADJUST TRD HEADS 0,2 mm Roughing Finishing Roughing Ø Finishing Ø 1) Before adjustment loosen the slide locking screw. 2) Tighten the roughing cartrige lock screws (2). 3) With presetting machine, adjust roughing cartrige trough the lateral screw. 12

TRD TESTAROSSA LINE HOW TO ADJUST TRD HEADS 4) Tighten the finishing cartrige lock screws (2). 5) With presetting machine, adjust finishing cartrige trough the lateral screw. 6) Then, you can making micrometric adjustment and move a complete slide for fine tollerance. 7) As last operation, tighten the slide lock screw 13

MONOFORCE HOW TO CLOSE MONOFORCE CHUCK RING 1) 2) 1) Tighten by hand, please don’t use hammer! 2) For finishing operations and higher run-out, after chuck ring contact with the face of chuck body, return chuck ring just a little (around 1°-2°) 15

MONOFORCE HOW TO ASSEMBLY THE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS Toolholder Tool GH ring VCR Bushes Key HOW TO ASSEMBLY THE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS FOR MONOFORCE COOLANT TROUGH… 16

MONOFORCE 1) 2) 3) Remove or close the internal exagonal screw. Put inside the VCR and fix with exagonal key. 3) Put inside the GH plastic ring and insert the bush into the toolhoder (WARNING the teeth!). 17

MONOFORCE Ready! 4) 5) 6) Insert GH metal ring into the tool. Insert and push the system. Close the toolholder and… 6) … close GH metal ring with exagonal key. (WARNING: NO high force!). Ready! The system is READY! 18

SUGGESTED CUTTING CONDITIONS FOR BORING OPERATIONS WITH TESTAROSSA AND MICROMETRIC BORING BARS The following table indicates the recommended cutting parameters as follow: Insert quality and cutting speed according to the material to be machined; feed Rate based on the insert radius. The maximum permissible length recommended For the boring head is L/d=6,3. Higher values must be valutated case by case. Generally cutting depth is between 0,1-0,3 mm per side. 20
