Arnaud Sahuguet My $0.02

What a wonderful world it would be if You had to pay to send email No more SPAM You had to pay to use Google More time spent answering queries You had to pay to do a DNS query Better quality service You had to pay to invoke a web service You had to pay to access content You had to pay to get an IP address You had to pay to synchronize your Palm

Benefits Would break the Internet monopoly Would prevent DoS ISP gets the money Content providers rely on advertising Would prevent DoS Incentives For people to produce high-quality content For people to share their content with others (GUPster!) For people to provide new services that require some infrastructure Beach web cam WiFi access points

What is needed Cheap micro-payment service ($0.0x) 3 challenges Cost of managing payments as low as possible Cost of forging currency higher than value of currency Making it transparent for parties (competition with subscription model) No need for breakthrough in crypto Need for smart “transaction” processing

These $0.02 have been generously contributed by Arnaud, Bell Labs research and Lucent Technologies.
