Ms. Gutierrez Open House Good evening, I am 5th Grade 2007-2008 WE COULD ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD Good evening, I am Ms. Gutierrez 5th Grade 2007-2008 Open House

The goals for our open house are... Welcome Parents… The goals for our open house are... To help parents understand the work your child will be doing throughout the school year. To explain my expectations of your child. To share information about how you, as parents, can support your child’s learning.

Volunteer Hours Every family is responsible for completing 30 volunteer hours You may donate materials that are on our wish list. Most important material needed is COPY PAPER. Bringing in at least 2 packs will help us extremely. If hours are not complete, you risk being placed on the waiting list for the following year.

Uniform Policy Students out of uniform will receive an administrative consequence which may include but is not limited to detention and silent lunch. If a student continues to be out of compliance with the uniform policy, a referral will be issued and may result in the loss or suspension of extra curricular activity privileges. Shirts should be tucked in Closed toe shoes or sneakers Belts should be worn On cooler days, blue plain sweat shirts or jackets should be worn

Uniform Policy On jean day, appropriate blue jeans should be worn (no capris, shorts, painted or ripped jeans) and $1.00 for our ongoing fundraiser should accompany the child. Uniforms may be purchased at “ALL UNIFORMS”. All uniform shirts must be embroidered with school logo!

Arrival Classes begin at 8:15 am. Students should wait in the cafeteria until an instructor comes to pick them up. All tardies will be unexcused, unless a student has a doctor’s note stating that they were at an appointment.

Dismissal Students cannot be signed out early during the last half hour of the school day. Please keep this in mind for field trip days. When picking up your child, please make sure that you have the Youth Co-op Charter School decal on your car visor with your child’s name and teacher’s name. A person under the age of 18 will not be allowed to pick up your child. Please make sure that students are picked up in a timely manner. Dismissal is at 3:05 PM

ALL birthday celebrations Birthdays ALL birthday celebrations are to take place in the classroom. Parents can provide cupcakes & juice only at lunch time. (Store bought cupcakes are preferred due to allergies.) Make sure to contact myself or Ms. Flete in order to make sure we have time that day.

Home Learning Policy Students should have an agenda to be able to write down their homework daily. Students can keep handouts in their Yellow Folder. Home learning will be posted on the school website and students are responsible for writing it in their agendas every day. Any graded assignments that is handed in late will be penalized for 20% for every day that it is late. After 5 missing home learning assignments they will receive a silent lunch, where they will work on the HW missed after they have had their lunch. Although Home Learning will be posted on the website, please refer to your child’s agenda in case of any changes.

Homework Club 1. Turn in your homework on time every day to stay in the club.   2. If absent, homework must be brought to school upon returning to school along with an excused absence note. 3. Complete homework from the days missed when you have been absent from school. 4. Stay in the Homework Club all month and earn a “No Homework Pass.” 5.
