Tuesday, January 31st Materials: Binder, Pen/Pencil, Character Analysis W/s Bellwork: Answer the following questions on the same sheet as the first 3 questions (aside, monologue…) In the opening scene of Act 4 of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the three witches repeat the phrase, “Double, double, toil and trouble”. What do you think this means? How does this effect the story? How does Macbeth interpret the prophecies pronounced by the first three apparitions? Explain how knowledge of the witches’ intent affects the audience’s perception of these prophecies. Explain the dramatic irony of these lines in Scene 3: Lines 4-8 (“Each new morn…”) Line 14 (“He hath not touched you yet.”) Line 180 (“No, they were well at peace when I did leave them.”)
