National Picture 20 million incidents; 20% MH linked = 4 million Bradley Report 2009 – Undiagnosed MH & LD in CJS & HMP Vulnerable victims (physical, sexual & financal abuse) Deaths in custody – 41 (past 3yrs) 21 had MH issues S.136 MHA detentions: 60,000hrs (cells) & 62,000hrs (health based PoS)

Local Picture Year-on-year decrease in s.136 to cells 78% male, 22% female 82% due to attempt suicide & self-harm 74% require restraint 30% sectioned
