16mm Color Narrative Short 3-5 Minutes Team Echo

#1: ECU View of rotting apple cores on the ground. A hand starts searching through them.

#2: WS Shot reveals a frail, old man (presumably homeless), looking for something suitable for consumption.

#3: MCU The man inspects an apple core that he found, brushes it off, and then begins to put it in his coat pocket.

#4 CU Here, the man finishes putting the apple core in his pocket.

#5: Rack focus shot, from a high angle. Man stands up, and looks up at a gorgeous, ripe apple and then…

#5 Rack focus shot …the focus changes to the apple.

#6 WS The man lingers on the apple a little longer, and then in disappointment, Walks off right. The camera pans left.

#6 WS Camera settles on a pair of children, one boy, one girl, about 8 years old playing with a ball.

#7: MS The boy is waiting for the girl to pass him the ball.

#7: MS Then the ball flies by his head, and we hear the girl laugh.

#7: MS He jokingly casts an angry look, and then runs right after it.

#7: MS The camera remains in position, and then the girl runs on from the left, pauses in front of the camera, smiles at the boy, and then runs off right.

#8: WS The boy picks up the ball, the girl runs on from left. The boy grabs the ball and runs right off screen. The girl follows, and when she reaches the right side, the camera begins panning to the right…

#8: WS The camera stops panning when the tree is between the two children, and they’re facing each other.

#8: WS After a pause, the boy darts towards the tree and hides behind it.

#9: MS The girl starts to playfully sneak up on the boy. The camera will spin around the tree…

#9: MCU …revealing the boy hiding behind the tree.

#9: MS The girls head pops out unnoticed by the boy from the right side of the tree.

#9: MS The girl sneaks up a bit more, and then suddenly grabs the ball. The boy is surprised and struggles to keep the ball. They fight for it, and the camera pulls back a bit and accommodate for their fighting.

#10: WS from above The children let go of the ball at the same time, and fall in opposite directions. The boy starts to admire the clouds in the sky. The girl sees him, moves closer to him, and lies next to him.

#11: MCU from above The boy is laying on the ground, looking up. He notices something in the tree and cocks his head.

#12: WS from below, looking up at the tree The apple is there and the boy sits up into frame, looking up.

#13: WS from above The boy stands up completely, looking up. The girl sits up. The boy walks off frame, The girl then stands up and follows him.

#14: WS The two are under the apple looking at it. The boy tries to jump but can’t reach. The girl then stretches her arms into the air, implying that she wants to be lifted. The boy boosts her up.

#15: WS from above The little girl reaches up to try to get the apple.

#16: CU The girl still can’t reach the apple. The camera tilts down to reveal the boy putting the girl down, and grabbing the ball.

#16: WS The boy throws the ball at the apple. The ball leaves the frame and falls back into frame. He catches it. He tries throwing it again and then…

#17: CU … a matched action shot of the ball missing the apple and falling out of frame.

#18: MCU The girl comes upon a large stick on the ground. She picks up the stick and walks off left.

#19: MS The girl carries the stick to the tree.

#20: CU She tries to knock the apple down, but the stick just doesn’t reach.

#21: CU The boy is walking around trying to figure out what to do when he sees a large rock in the foreground. He picks it up and walks off-screen with it.

#22: MS The boy walks on from the right, and puts the rock down on the ground between them. He gets up on the rock and goes on his tippy toes to try to reach the apple.

#23: WS He is stretching to reach the apple, but still can’t reach it.

#24: MCU The boy gets discouraged, takes the stick from the ground…

#24: MCU …sits on the rock, and starts to dig into the ground with it.

#25: ECU The boy plays with the rotten apple cores on the ground.

#26: ECU The boy looks up at the girl.

#27: MCU slightly upward angle. The girl looks down at the boy for a second. Then she gets an idea.

#28: WS The girl makes the boy stand up and directs him to stand on the rock, then motions him to use the stick.

#29: ECU The boy is on the rock.

#30: CU The stick is very near the apple.

#31: CU The boy gets on his tippy toes.

#32: CU from slightly above The girl looks up in anticipation.

#33: CU The stick makes the apple fall to the ground.

#34: CU The apple is on the ground, and the girl retrieves it.

#35: MS The girl hands the apple to the boy.

#36: CU The boy decides that they should save it, and stashes the apple into his pocket.

#37: WS The kids realize that the ball is fair game, and both run after in sprint for it. The girl kicks it, and then the boy runs after it.

#38: MS The ball rolls under the foot of the old man.

#39: CU The man picks up the ball.

#40: MS The old man hands the ball out to the boy, with a slight smile.

#41: MCU The child looks a bit intimidated and looks the old man up and down.

#42: MS profile He takes the ball, and then darts away.

#43: WS The girl and the boy walk away.

#44: MS They are walking away in profile, and then the boy stops. The girl notices he stopped and stops a little afterwards. He looks at her, takes the apple, and then begins to walk in the other direction. The camera follows and the girl stays behind. Then the girl follows the boy back into frame and walks with him.

#45: MS from slightly above The old man is sitting on the ground, ready to start eating the rotten apple core. He looks up and sees the kids coming towards him.

#46: MS The boy looks at the man for a second, and then offers the apple to him.

#47: CU The apple is in the boy’s hand.

#48: CU The man looks down at the apple and takes it in his hand. He looks up at the kids and smiles gratefully.

#49: MCU The boy and girl smile and turn to walk away.

#50: WS The kids walk away.

#51: MCU The old man bring the apple closer to his face. He looks at it, and smiles once more. Cut to Credits.
