Teaching Experience This is my third year teaching 5th grade at Poquessing Middle School. Taught 2nd grade at Ferderbar Elementary. Taught 6th & 7th grade English at Poquessing for 10 years I also taught at Neshaminy Middle School and Lower Southampton Elementary School.

Math in Focus Math in Focus is an authentic Singapore Math® curriculum—with problem solving as the center of math learning and concepts taught with a concrete–pictorial–abstract learning progression through real-world, hands-on experiences.

Math in Focus Things to know: White Binder should come home every day. Over time all papers will be on Canvas and we will move towards a paperless classroom. There will be a lot of information for your child to utilize at home to review, study, or for help when completing homework. Homework Monday – Thursday. Any homework over the weekend is typically just to study and prepare for upcoming test. All homework should be written in their agendas, but will also be posted on the website. Tests: Study for Success paper, study guide at the end of the notes section, about a weeks notice FACT FLUENCY!!!

MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADING No more Standards Based Grading (4,3,2,1) 59 and below=F

English (Writing) Class As students enter the room, the homework, daily objectives, and journal entry will be displayed on the board. Students will be given about 7-10 minutes to copy the homework and daily objectives and respond to the journal topic. A few volunteers will be picked to share. Core Lesson

Writing Students will do a variety of writing throughout the school year. The following types of writing are the main focus of the 5th grade writing curriculum: Narrative Biography Persuasive Descriptive Poetry
