A Peek at the Week! Week of Aug. 14-18 WE WILL BE WORKING ON: Reading: I can determine two or more main ideas of a text and explain how they are supported by key details; summarize the text. Writing: I can write an opinion piece. Math: I can recognize a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what is represents in the place to the left. I can explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain the patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided. Science: I can compare how animal cells and plant cells are similar and different. I can determine what similarities and differences between an unicellular and multi-cellular organisms. Social Studies: We will focus on Pre Columbian era. This entails Native American Study. Homework: Pages 11-12 Pages 13-14 Pages 15-16 Reading Passages: What are cells? Cells: The building blocks of life. Study vocabulary words. All homework is given on Monday and due in class on Friday morning before announcements at 7:25. Important Dates: 8/24 5-7p.m. AAE Spaghetti Supper/Open House/Silent Auction Saints is 5th Grade’s theme for the silent auction. If your child brings in a silent auction item, he/she will receive a homework pass. 9/1 Fun Friday 1:30 p.m. Miss Frazier’s 5th Grade Class alicia.frazier@gulfportschools.org Thank you!
