Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) 2018 medical plan options The Walmart family is pretty big. Depending on where you are, you have a few medical plans to choose from. Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) Plans You have access to three medical plans. Sometimes four. The Health Reimbursement Account Plans or HRA The Health Savings Account Plan or HSA And depending on your location, a Select Network Plan, an Accountable Care Plan, or a Health Maintenance Organization All of which we’ll talk more about here in a minute
Key features of the HRA plans Get a special health reimbursement account credited by Walmart to help them pay for eligible expenses. HRA Plan HRA High Plan HRA Credit $300 / $600 $500 / $1,000 Annual Deductible $2,750 / $5,500 $1,750 / $3,500 Coinsurance 75% in-network 50% out-of-network Annual Out-of-Pocket Maximum $6,850 / $13,700 The HRA Plans are a little different. They offer an HRA credit from Walmart, which is used whenever you need to go to the doctor or hospital. It is a credit rather than actual cash. Any credit you don’t use will roll over year after year up to the annual deductible, but if you leave the plan or the company, you will lose any remaining credit. For most areas, there are two options, the HRA Plan and the HRA High Plan. The HRA plan will cost you less per paycheck, but you have to pay more before insurance kicks in. The HRA High plan gives you a higher HRA credit and kicks in sooner with a lower deductible, but it will cost you more per paycheck.
How do the HRA plans work? Associate Pays Deductible Once all HRA credit is used, associates pay full price for eligible medical expenses until they meet the annual deductible Walmart Pays Out-of-Pocket Max Finally, once associates meet the annual out-of-pocket maximum, Walmart pays 100% of eligible medical expenses for the remainder of the plan year Walmart Pays HRA Credit Walmart provides HRA credit which is automatically used first for eligible medical expenses Assoc./Walmart Pays Coinsurance After the annual deductible has been paid, both the associate and Walmart pays for eligible medical expenses. Associates pay 25% Walmart pays 75% So how exactly do the HRA plans work? As we previously mentioned, Walmart provides associates enrolled in the HRA or HRA High plan with an HRA credit at the beginning of each plan year. This credit is automatically used first for any eligible medical expenses. As long as the you have a credit, you don’t have to pay anything. Walmart pays. Once the you have used all your HRA credit, you must pay full price for eligible medical expenses, until the annual deductible has been met. You pay. As the year goes on, once you have met the annual deductible, the cost of eligible medical expenses are shared. You will pay 25% of eligible expenses and Walmart will pay the other 75%. You and Walmart pay. And finally, if at any time during the plan year you meet the annual out-of-pocket maximum, Walmart will then pay 100% of eligible medical expenses for the remainder of the plan year. Once again, Walmart pays.
