Introduction Biodiversity degradation major threat unsustainable and overexploitation there is a need of developing an informed society to understand the need of protecting the existing biodiversity through environmental education

Introduction…cont biodiversity issues were thought in Geography and Biology as a topic of Ecology in biology and tourism in Geography. the current syllabus does not contain some aspects of relevance to biodiversity conservation

Gaps and Opportunity The methods and knowledge is inadequate to help students understand clearly concept and importance of biodiversity to life. biodiversity concepts has been taught in secondary and primary schools since 2014 by

Introduction….cont using resources book guide teachers teach biodiversity in Secondary schools. the knowledge has been imparted to student and practices in the conservation of biodiversity within their environment.

FACILITATION Vice president’s Office coordinated the preparation of the Biodiversity Resource Book for Secondary School Teachers Vice Presidents Office, Ministry of Education Tanzania Institute of Education enabled teachers on introducing biodiversity issues in teaching process.

FACILITATION UNESCO Tanzania office facilitated teachers to teach biodiversity in Muheza district secondary schools. Jane Goodall Institue facilitated teachers and students at Kigoma region to integrate biodiversity issues in the teaching and learning process. For more information:

Case study Magila secondary school in Muheza district Amani Game reserve have been identified as the World reserve area The area has been threatened by unsustainable use of the resources teaching of Biodiversity change the students to conserve and use biodiversity sustainably .

Best practice…2 Another area is Kigoma region where biodiversity are taught to most secondary schools. societies through secondary school students have the knowledge on how to conserve the endangered biodiversity of Gombe national park.
