Page 11 Label it in the Table of Contents as: Definitions – Types of Conflict 2. Go to a new page in the journal and title this page: Color and label the four triangles as directed on the next four slides. Your triangles should look identical to the ones shown in the examples.

Directions for Triangles label: Internal (top line) Man vs. Self (large space) and draw a picture here as shown below: color: red

DO NOT GLUE THEM YET!!!! Page 11 After coloring and labeling each of the triangles, arrange them onto the page into a square as shown below. DO NOT GLUE THEM YET!!!!

ONLY GLUE THE TOP TAB IN PLACE Fold the bottom triangle flap up on the black line. Glue only the top section down to the page, which you labeled either internal or external. Look closely at picture below. You need to keep it in the square shape, and you need space to take the notes on the next page.

Definitions – Record the definitions beneath each flap Triangle #1 - Man vs. Self (internal) A struggle between a character and his feelings, conscience, or fear Triangle #2 - Man vs. Man (external) A struggle, mental or physical, between two characters Other character may be the antagonist Triangle #3 - Man vs. Nature (external) A struggle between a character and Mother Nature Mother Nature = weather, animals, insects, sickness, epidemics Triangle #4 - Man vs. Society (external) A struggle between a character and the laws or beliefs of a group Could involve poverty, politics, social norms, expectations, or values
