Timelines March 1st – today, one cheque per school for competitors, $20/per student March 1st – deadline for budget requests March 3rd – All registation forms in to Elin (secondary) or Bernadette (elementary) or Cathy Jenkins (hcdsb) or Craig (EC Drury) March 27th – Set up after 3 pm March 28th – 8am-7pm, Competition and Closing Awards Ceremony

Coordinators Job Decide how many competitors you can have in your competition and coordinate with coaches Pick up your Parking Pass today (or e-mail Barb Finan to request pass) Set up competition night before –March 27th Coordinate day of and hand-in results Recruit judges for your competition (you can request one pass parking pass for judge) If you have not done yet, email scope to Barb Finan Answer questions coaches have and keep in contact with them. Make sure room is clean at end

What to do today? Look at room and make sure that room is ok and let us know if you need anything (ie board logins? Programs put on computers? A table?) Talk to coaches and go over scope and make sure everyone knows where the students should go when they first arrive Make sure everyone understands about qualifying competitions (secondary)(Welding,

Competition Scopes In line with Ontario Skills Competition Scopes Keep in mind competition must be completed by 3pm at the latest 5 minute interview included (Secondary) Clearly display competition scope and project outside competition location for spectators Scope posted on haltonskills.com

Interview Sheridan College HR conducting interview 5 minute Interview - will be marked Competitors MUST bring resume If you filled out a Coordinators Request with a requested interview time we will do our best to accommodate that

Registration & Numbers Coordinators determined maximum based on room, resources etc Coordinators MUST contact coaches with specifics If you want to cancel a student, please let the coordinator know and cc Barb Finan

On-line Registration You received 2 e-mails, print both off and make sure the 2 waiver forms are signed Send Secondary to Elin Lochead and Elementary to Bernadette Teixeira Only COMPLETE registration forms can be accepted Incomplete forms will be sent back Check for 2 signatures please

Materials List If you have not done so: Budget needs to be approved by Veronica Kleinsmith, talk to her tonight if your budget has not been approved Please fill out the Coordinators Questionnaire or e- mail finanb@hdsb.ca Try to get donations of materials where possible If you have donations please let us (Chris, Barb) know so they can be added to promo material depending on donation level ASAP

Reminders for Coaches Power cables are not supplied Set-up the night before There is security hired for outside of school from 7pm to 7am next morning Need to know this week if there will be any board trucking requests – Connect with your business manager to arrange and then let us know..

Trucking Requests If you need trucking for large items please fill out Trucking Request form: Form includes: Competition Name School Name Contact Name Equipment to be moved Date Room or Door

Mandatory Tool Safety Training All students participating in Elementary Tech and Green Energy competitions must have received safety training for the tools they will be using during the competition Training must happen prior to attending Halton Skills This includes hand saws, hand drills, dolphin cutters, glue guns and scroll saws Coordinators are there to ensure student safety, not to train students who have not been exposed to tools. Results One winner from each board Make sure the names are clear 2 students continue to qualifiers from HDSB and 1 for HCDSB. C107 (behind South Cafeteria)

Logistics for Competitors Morning snack and cheese pizza lunch provided T-shirts provided for competitors to wear Dinner tickets will be given out to competitors with T-shirts by Coordinator Bring refillable water bottles One dinner ticket per competitor Guest dinner tickets are $5 Dinner 4pm-5:15pm 4:15-5:00 entertainment in Cafeteria 5:00 – 5:30 video in Gym 5:30 Award Ceremony

Closing Ceremony Dinner served until 5:15 Award Ceremony at 5:30 Committed to keeping Awards to less than 1 hour Elementary and Secondary Awards together Final results announced at these ceremonies Student can fill out ticket to win prizes Prizes given out at end of Awards Ceremony, must be present to win

Appeals Committee Veronica Kleinsmith and Cathy Jenkins are chairing the Appeals Committee In line with Ontario Skills Competition Competitor Appeals Must be done IMMEDIATELY (within 5 minutes of the ending of the competition) – appeals can not be taken during or after awards Appeals must be immediate.

Parking Information Parents can drop of until 8:30 am on North Campus (one way traffic from East to West (Trafalgar to Fifth Line) Parents can park at St Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Sewell – no pass required Shuttle bus during busy times – 7am-8:30am , then 2:30pm to 7pm again
