Joan Miro

Why Miro? At Christmas our friends from Spain introduced KS2 to Miro by sending us Christmas cards.

Joan Miro was born in 1893 in Barcelona.

Joan Miro was a surrealist artist. This means he got the ideas for his paintings from his dreams.

Many of his paintings are just shapes and colours Many of his paintings are just shapes and colours. He liked to use primary and secondary colours.

Sometimes he painted pictures of other worlds that he imagined or that came from his dreams.

His most famous painting is Carnival of Harlequin. What do you think it is about?

Here are some more paintings by Joan Miro

He also created sculptures.

He died in Majorca on 25th December, 1983. He was 90 years old.
