Art I Pre-AP 2016-2017 Ms. Hinojosa shinoj1@neisd.net Roosevelt High School Art Department Art I Overview This course is directed towards highly motivated art students who are looking for a more in-depth and challenging approach to art. Students should have previous art experience. This course will provide the foundation for upper level studio courses, including AP Art. Students will study the elements of art and principles of design, applying them to a variety of art media and techniques. Students will explore drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, while developing an understanding of art through art history and art criticism. Sample contests: Congressional, PTA Reflections, Fire Prevention, Battle of Flowers, Scholastic, and VASE. Sample exhibitions: Night Gallery, SHARE, and Evening with TR Artists.
