Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences TRT Overview: Operation 25th June 2013 TRT DCS during LS1 Zbigniew Hajduk, Jolanta Olszowska, Elżbieta Banaś Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences Cracow, Poland

Outline Reference to plans from February 2013 External constraints: central installations Status of preparation works and tests in SR1 Status of preparation works in USA15 Schedule for next months TRT Overview E. Banas

Fulfilling Plans from February 2013 Continuous work and tests in SR1, using 4 new DCS PC’s and TRT detector hardware setup From the middle of May at least one DCS expert at CERN EB till 29 June, JO from 1 July for 4 (6) months, ZH in July Installation of 3 new DCS PC’s in USA15 (in temporary rack) with standard ATLAS DCS setup for development and tests Installation of SYSTEC interfaces Connecting subsystems detector hardware from old system to new PC’s for full tests TRT Overview E. Banas

External constraints: installation of operating systems and basic software in Point1 All DCS production computers work with Linux SLC6 Where Windows is needed for controling hardware (e.g. DA OPC servers like Wiener) – W2008 Virtual Machine is installed. Installation of operating systems + software: Linux SLC6: operating system + centrally available software: hardware drivers, OPC servers, WinCC OA – done by ATLAS Sysadmins (ticket mechanism) installation of other software not possible: if really needed, can be made centrally available (after discussion with Central DCS) creation of WINCCOA project by means of a Central DCS script limited privileges W2008 VM, hardware drivers – ATLAS Central DCS All software can be installed by DCS experts from CMF as before TRT Overview E. Banas

Tests in SR1: Infrastructure New DCS PC with W2008 ½ of standard 16 port SYSTEC connected, 1 CAN port used for VME crates control (CAN bus) PL512 (MARATON like) is Ethernet controlled Wiener OPC DA server for W7/W2008 + SYSTEC wrapper installed tested OK with: 2 VME crates 1 TRT PL512 5 Pixel PL512 TRT Overview E. Banas

Tests in SR1: High Voltage Projects Linux SLC6 installed on a new DCS PC (with PCIe Serial Card) basic tests of RS232 communication done, ready for further tests with UA HVSys OPC server Windows 2003 installed on a new DCS PC (with PCIe Serial Card) software tools necessary for development of new UA HVSys OPC Server: Unified Architecture Toolkit uaexpert OPC Client Development of the UA HVSys OPC server in progress TRT specific Framework (OPC UA Client configuration) and Technical Panels to be modified (RS-232 protocol changes) TRT Overview E. Banas

Tests in SR1: LVPP FE and Temperature 1 Linux SLC6 installed on new DCS PC ½ of standard 16 port SYSTEC connected, 2 CAN ports used for side C of TRT detector (2 LVPP’s and 2 TTC’s) control Software Independent program for LVPP tests with low level calls Systec Driver, UA OpcUaCanOpen server (Central DCS) WinHost – independent tool for checking ELMB’s (Henk) Simple Client developed by Central DCS WinCC OA project with fwElmb 5.0.4 component TRT Overview E. Banas

Tests in SR1: LVPP FE and Temperature 2 Intensive tests of OpcUaCanOpen server (close collaboration with Central DCS): monitoring analogue values – proved OK implementation of DTMROC’s communication protocol using OpcUaCanOpen server: development and tests – ongoing, well advanced In the same time modification of the TRT specific trtPP2 framework component to fit with new DTMROC communication way and WinCC OA 3.11 - ongoing TRT Overview E. Banas

Installation in USA15 for massive tests 3 new DCS standard PC’s + 2 interfaces CAN-USB (SYSTEC) installed in rack Y29.11.A1 pcatltrt03 HV vmatltrt03 tests pcatltrt07 LVFE and temperature tests pcatltrt10 vmatltrt07 Infrastructure tests TRT Overview E. Banas

DCS test bench in USA15 – PC’s installation Operating systems SLC6 + VM Windows W2008 with standard DCS profile for subdetector TRT and packages Systec Driver on SLC6 and VM UA CanOpenOPC server on SLC6 WinCC OA on SLC6 and VM were installed according to standard procedure by ATLAS Sysadmins and ATLAS Central DCS – thank you!  TRT Overview E. Banas

DCS test bench in USA15 - Infrastructure pcatltrt10 – Linux SLC6 vmatltrt10 – Windows W2008 VM USB PCI-Express card installed for Windows VM exclusive use SYSTEC connections: USB0 (CAN0-CAN7) connected to PC motherboard, used under SLC6 with OpcUaCanOpen server for: CAN-PSU and HWI USB1 (CAN8-CAN15) connected to USB PCI-Express card used under Windows with Wiener OPC server to control VME DAQ crates: CAN15 port connected to VME CAN bus (in parallel to old PC) Software: Windows VM – Wiener OPC server installed (VME + RCM’s), under tests Slow progress – developer is moving ! TRT Overview E. Banas

DCS test bench in USA15 – High Voltage pcatltrt03 – Linux SLC6 vmatltrt03 – W2008 VM No hardware connected, ready to be used by Jola TRT Overview E. Banas

DCS test bench in USA15 – LV FE and Temperature (PP part) pcatltrt07 – Linux SLC6 no VM – UA OpcUaCanOpen server will be used to access ELMB’s SYSTEC module connected 6 Systec CAN ports connected to the CAN bus controlling Patch Panels in parallel to old PC’s – ready for tests Software: WinCC OA project with fwELMB component for first tests once TRT specific trtPP2 framework component is ready – import project and start full tests TRT Overview E. Banas

Plans Keep the current DCS untouched and have the detector under control and monitoring Perform projects’ import, adaptation and tests in our 3 fields (Infrastructure, HV and PP) in USA15 test PC’s according to individual needs Once all template systems are tested OK (not before September) replace machines one by one, trying to have most of the detector hardware under control Continue development and tests in the SR1 test bench TRT Overview E. Banas

Summary DCS preparation works are well advanced Developing of UA HVSys OPC server in progress Adaptation of UA OpUaCanOpenOpc server to communication with DTMROC well advanced 3 PC’s, each dedicated for different DCS activity, installed in USA15 TRT Detector hardware connected to Infrastructure PC and LV FE PC Ready to make tests from remote without disturbing Up to end of the year at least 1 DCS expert present at CERN TRT Overview E.
