3 Awards in 2008 The Judges have decided that three awards are to be given. Award for the best large company project A new award to specifically encourage SMEs to take part in the competition Special award for a major international project

Large Company Award DuPont Asturias (Spain) - Tamon Valley Site Use of glucose waste in bio treatment nutrient feed to replace acetic acid. Judges’ Comment “An excellent collaboration between the DuPont site and a local sweet factory with threefold benefit: waste reduction, substitution of depletable resource and significant cost savings for both companies.”

SME Award BioMCN (The Netherlands) Converting crude glycerine into bio-methanol on an industrial scale. Judges’ Comment “An innovative approach which seeks to reduce GHG emissions and takes measures to avoid negative impacts on food production and land use which are associated with production of some bio-fuels.”
