Joh 7:37-39 And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. (38) He who believes on Me, as the Scripture has said, "Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (39) (But He spoke this about the Spirit, which they who believed on Him should receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Physical Thirst a reality and a need As the Jews in the wilderness: So desirable, sought after So refreshing, so reviving So precious Quenchable only with water
Spiritual Thirst An inner need that could not do without Absent from within It is something specific Yet not finding and no substitute
Jesus is where you will find “water” Come to know Jesus he is the marker Come to know what Jesus represents the way, the truth, the life Come to see what Jesus has done
The Holy Spirit is the water Who is from God Quenches our spiritual thirst Quenches from the core of man Overwhelming abundance
Application What do you seek? How have you been? Jesus is calling Come and you shall receive the Holy Spirit and you shall be satisfied
Conclusion … but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Joh 4:14
