S1-2 German Torry Academy

What can I expect from S 1-2 German?  a well structured and diverse curriculum building up their skills in the four capacities; reading, writing, talking and listening. a combination of ICT and a mixture of textbooks to engage the pupils in the units of work as well as planning group work to build on key social skills.

Which topics will be covered? Colours, numbers, animals, family and friends, your Dreamhouse, cities and countries, Free time activities and more! At the end you will be able to have conversations in German with any of your classmates and talk, for example, about your favourite hobbies!

What will be the main focus of German? In S1 we devote our main focus on… pronouncing words speaking to each other We will also make sure, that you are aware of why it is rewarding to learn a foreign language!

Why speaking a foreign language? Speaking will make you aware of why you actually learn a foreign language as you are now able to use it! You are able to communicate with people from abroad when on holidays You are able to work abroad for a year or longer in the future! Your fluency in German and your pronunciation will be improved You will be in advantage when you can put a foreign language on your CV for your future job!

Homework: Homework is given regularly which can include written work, revising and memorizing key phrases and vocabulary and preparing projects etc. Throughout these two years you will be working your way through levels 2 and 3 in Curriculum for Excellence.
