What Did God Create? Gen. 1 – the creation The observable universe is described by man as being 46 billion light years across. A light year is about 6 trillion miles. This is by man’s standard and science. It is difficult for us to imagine the number of stars and planets that God created. It is also useless for us to consider other stars or planets because through His word we know that our life is sustained on this planet with this star.

What Did God Create? When we consider all that God created we might begin to wonder about the spiritual realm. God is and always has been. Ex. 3:14 – “I Am Who I Am” Rev. 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

What Did God Create? What the spiritual realm is we have no idea. We are not told a great deal about it. John 4:24 – God is spirit 1 Cor. 15:50-53 – flesh and blood is not spirit but we will be changed

What Did God Create? What did God create in the spiritual realm? 1. Seraphim: Isaiah 6:1-7 – these are beings that are in the presence of God Rev. 4:6-9 – they never rest day or night Seraphim praise God; “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Seraphim also have access to the altar in heaven. Is. 4:6

What Did God Create? 2. Cherubim: Gen. 2:24 – guards for the Garden of Eden 2 Sam. 22:8-13 – David sings of God riding a cherub in judgement Psalm 18:7-12 – another psalm of David in which God rides a cherub in judgement Ex. 25:18-18-22 – cherubim were to be placed at the end of the mercy seat and the mercy seat was placed on top of the ark

The cherubim seem to be guardians and carriers of the throne. What Did God Create? Isaiah 37:16 – Hezekiah prayed to God, who dwells between the cherubim Ezek. 1:5-11 – Ezekiel gives us a description of cherubim Ezek. 10 – Ezekiel identifies these living creatures as cherubim Ezek. 41:18-26 – cherubim decorated the walls of the temple The cherubim seem to be guardians and carriers of the throne.

Angels: Psalm 148:2-5 – angels are created by God Rev. 14:6-1 – John saw and heard angels Jude 9 – there is an archangel named Michael Jude 6 – angels left their proper domain Rev. 12:7-9 – there was a war in heaven and the devil, Satan, and his angels were cast out 2 Peter 2:4 – these are chained and reserved for judgement

What Did God Create? How do we know that these are created beings? Col. 1:16 – all things were created that are in heaven or on earth, visible or invisible Additionally: Rev. 5:11 – the number of the created beings is unlimited

What Did God Create? 4. Souls: Zech. 12:1 – God forms the spirit Jer. 1:5 – before the body is formed God knows us Ezek. 18:4 – all souls belong to God Eccl. 12:7 – if we die before Jesus returns; our spirit will return to God, cf. Gen. 35:17

What Did God Create? While it is interesting to know about the things that God created there is nothing we can do to affect the spiritual state of anything God created except our own soul. Luke 12:16-21 – Jesus teaches us that the only thing we should be concerned with is the state of our soul because it is the thing that will be required of us.

What Did God Create? The angels have their purpose and we can read of the interaction they have had with man. The seraphim are before the throne of God praising Him. The cherubim are around the throne of God. These are worshipping God forever and ever

What Did God Create? One day we will have the opportunity to join them in heaven offering praise to God and being in the presence of God for eternity. OR, we will have our place with the devil and his angels in everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord.
