Studies From The Book of John XV Received or Rejected (John 1:11-12) RCCG Canaan Land Digging Deep November 3, 2015 Studies From The Book of John XV Received or Rejected (John 1:11-12)

Received or Rejected Text: John 1:11-12 “He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” 1. WHY DID JESUS COME? To preach the kingdom of God (Luke 4:22) To seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) To save the world (Jn. 3:17) To give abundant life (Jn. 10:10) To bear witness to the truth (Jn. 18:37) or to reveal the truth To reveal the truth (Himself) To send fire on the earth (Luke 12:49) to purify or burn you depending on whose side you are (His coming works)

Received or Rejected Text: John 1:11-12 “He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” 2. WHY DID HIS OWN REJECT HIM? They failed to recognise Him God planned it that way (Rom. 11:7-8) WHY? So that Salvation may come to You and I (Rom. 11:11) That prophecies concerning the Gentiles (non-Jews) might be fulfilled (e.g. Gen. 22:27, Psa. 86:9, Isa. 9:2) That Israel may be jealous having misused their privilege (Rom. 10:16-21) Their hearts were hardened (Jer. 7:13-15)

Received or Rejected Text: John 1:11-12 “He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” 3. REJECTING JESUS CHRIST (the Word of God) is very dangerous as it attracts the wrath of God (2Chr. 36:16, Zech. 7:12, Isa. 5:24)

Received or Rejected Text: John 1:11-12 “He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” 4.RECEIVING JESUS CHRIST entitles you to the following:- Membership of God’s family The same blessings and benefits of God’s initial family, as of right (Gal. 4:1-7) e.g. Promises of life, health, prosperity, protection e.t.c. Spiritual empowerment (Acts 2:4)

Received or Rejected Text: John 1:11-12 “He came to His own and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” 5. MEMBERSHIP IN GOD’S FAMILY is by Grace alone - (the gift of God), not by human achievement (Eph. 2:8-9). The impartation (release) of this gift is however dependent on man’s reception of it – “Receiving” and “Believing” or “Rejecting” and “Disbelieving” (Jn. 1:12), (Rom. 10:9-10)

CONCLUSION His own rejected Him and you benefitted thereby. What do you think your fate will be like if you too should reject Him? The choice is yours – “Reject or Receive”
