UNSHACKLED: A study in the Book of Ephesians SESSION 2

Small Group Question, 1st Break: If new members in your group, take a few moments each to introduce one another. What stood out to you from the Scripture memory verse? Take a moment to share one or two takeaways God revealed to you in Ephesians 1.

FOUNDATIONS (REVIEW): 1. Tone- Healthy correct tone is critical 2. Faith- Confident expectation/trust 3. Role of Holy Spirit and the Scriptures

Big Picture of Ephesians (REVIEW): Two Clear Segments: Trusting in the truths of the first makes possible the actions and lifestyle of the second!

EPHESIANS CH 1 OVERVIEW: V 3-14- Praise/Thank God for Spiritual Blessings V 1:15-23- Prayer for Ever-expanding acceptance of those blessings

FAITH OF A CHILD: And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. Mark 10:13-16

RESTORING US TO HIM: Redemption, Forgiveness, Salvation, Adoption For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17

GivING US THE SPIRIT TO EXPERIENCE LIFE WITH HIM: Sealed, Renewed, ‘Walk With’, Abide For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11- 13

Empowering us with the spirit to represent him: Practice, Respond, ‘Do good’ By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:10

GOD’S WILL FOR US: -RESTORING US TO HIM -GIVING US THE SPIRIT TO EXPERIENCE LIFE WITH HIM -EMPOWER US WITH THE SPIRIT TO REPRESENT HIM

COMMITMENT: 1. Showing up each week you are in town 2. Being In The Word Daily/Scripture Memory 3. Writing Down What God Reveals to You

Small Group Question, 2nd Break: How have you viewed God’s Will in the past? Did something stand out today that helps you get your arms around this foundational topic? Why does our flesh want to pull our tendencies to a complex faith instead of the “faith of a child”?
