ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK, MINI SECRETARIAT ROHTAK This building falls in the Institutional building Category. The project accommodates the District Administrative offices catering to the facilities for the different people under one roof which were earlier located at different places in the District. This building block is the extension of the existing Mini Sectt. Building, constructed to meet the needs of multi-user’s groups within economic construction budget.

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT Orientation & Natural lighting. Optimal site orientation and plentiful day lighting provide a foundation for maximizing energy saving. This building is long narrow & ‘C’ in shape with short sides to the East & West. The outer walls have deep set windows which protect the interiors from sun glare. The south side has deep verandahs which reduces the afternoon heat resulting in saving in terms of energy consumption. The four storey light courts have been placed at remote corners of the building to bring diffused light which reduces the need for artificial light.

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT Aesthetics and usage. This building was designed and constructed to be a model of sustainable development. The appearance and aesthetics of the building has been designed keeping in view the principles of sustainable design, the use of natural materials, glass and sun shady devices etc.

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT The work areas in the offices have excess to natural light as the open type workstations have been planned along the outer walls, thus reduction in usage of artificial lighting. The building uses a combination of Passive and Active energies to reduce consumption & then provide for the reduced demand with renewable & energy efficient system. These Principles have been applied to the building design and construction wherever possible. It is being considered to increase the building efficiency and sustainability by using renewable energy generated by solar photovoltaics.

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT Green building design is not a concept of the 21th century. All buildings and cities developed and designed since the beginning of civilization have been inherently sustainable. Technology for “Creature Comfort” as we know of them today did not exist then. Therefore, it was the role of the Architect to design and construct a building which would keep its occupant comfortable.

INNOVATIONS Fire sensing/alarm system provided. Structural design conforms to IS 1893-2002,IS 4326,seismic ductile detailing code IS 13920-1993. Fire sensing/alarm system provided. Motorable area around for free movement of fire tenders. Surveillance system through CCTV cameras. Central courtyards with landscape for better ambience, air circulation. Provisions of Energy Conversation Building Code followed. Fans & fittings are energy efficient as per Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency and BEE Guidelines thus saving about 25% in electricity consumption.

INNOVATIONS Appliances used adhere to five star rating of Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Plantation on south west side to deflect heat in line with green concept. Toilets, sub-station, fire stairs on western side to serve as a buffer zone to reduce heat intake. Rain water harvesting System. Solar water heating system. No depressed slab of toilets provided which is a source of leakage.C.I. pipes hanged at the bottom of slabs and covered with false ceiling.Easy to detect leakage. Roof slabs laid in 1:80 slopes and 1:40 in tile terracing to avoid leakage. Barrier free environment.

INNOVATIONS Green house keeping plants healthy. LAN, EPABX Systems. Green house keeping plants healthy. New technology for construction with Ready mix concrete. The orientation of the building has been placed so that it is ideal for natural light, ventilation and cuts down extensive heat in summer. Adequate measures have been kept as per codal provision for all kind of disaster management including floods, earth quake etc. Provision for Barrier free Environment has been made in the building. Proper fenestration design ensures natural lighting & adequate cross ventilation. This building adheres to the yardsticks of green building and complies to codal provision of energy efficient buildings.
