ANATOMY OF A WOLF Wolves can be white, red, gray, black or brown. Pups weigh about one pound at birth. Wolves can’t see or hear at birth. Wolves have thick fur to keep warm. Red Wolves have shorter fur than Gray Wolves.
Habitat of wolves Wolves live in the northern parts near the mountains. Red Wolves live in the southern part of the US. Wolves live in Asia, North America and Europe. Wolves live in dens. They live in forests near water and hills.
Life cycle of a wolf Wolves have up to seven pups. Wolves learn to hunt at 10-12 years old. Wolves live about 13 years old. Wolf puppies are born at night.
Interesting facts There are 17 kinds of wolves. They weigh up to 90-175 pounds. Red wolves can weigh up to 60 pounds. Wolves eat moose, deer, bighorn sheep, rabbits and fish. Wolves stay in groups called packs. They have curly tails when they are ready to attack.
