Icloud Cloud Computing Emerging new technologies like cloud computers have shuffled certain IT industries. Cloud computing services include Microsoft exchange, Yahoo and iCloud. Cloud computing is currently the mainstream website service. Cloud computing has modernized synchronization and file sharing. Computers point at some shared files or documents in the internet. Cloud computing ensures its users are not tied to one device (Meyers & Lee, 2011). Users want their data and files made available and accessible regardless of where they are.

Background Cloud computing is rapidly evolving. iCloud is the evolution of MobileMe. Apple has figured out how its users wish to purchase, create, download and consume the content on their devices. MobileMe was a collection of internet services based on subscription. It replaced Mac service. iCloud works same way as the MobileMe. However, it solves all sources of conflicts automatically. Document Storage iCloud uses applications to store personal data. Data saved on the iCloud from iPad uses no saving files. Once sent to iCloud, the data is synced with other personal devices. All recent changes and updates are distributed in all personal devices. Applies to iCloud having turned on iCloud sharing and iCloud-compatible. The fundamental iCloud account has a storage of 5gb and is free. The storage can be increased by subscribing an additional fee.

Photo Stream Store personal photographs temporary. Novel photos are stored for at most 30 days (Spark, 2011). iCloud service synchronize pictures among iOS devices. A picture taken by iPad is saved into one’s iCloud storage by stream. Photo applications are automatically synced. Automatic syncing eliminates manually syncing of photos between iOS devices and one’s computer.

iTunes Avails iTune song purchases for download to the iPhone and iPad without syncing the computer. Books, Apps and Backup The features are accessible via iTunes. Backup feature backs up all personal iOS data (Meyers and Lee, 2011). Apps and book purchased on any iOS devices are synced. Books bought in iBooks on the iPad are auto-downloaded into iPhone. iPad app bought using iTunes on a computer auto-downloads itself to iPad.

Calendars and Contacts Offer users a wireless way to sync their calendar and contact lists in computing iPads, PC, Macs. Work seamlessly.

Implications Cloud computing has made individual data and information less secure. Security risks associated with this new cloud service. Applications like Find My Friends and Photo Stream violates personal privacy. Used to track persons as well as upload offending photos. Although all this could be user’s mistakes, Apple will be held responsible.

Future Trends Cloud computing has no doubt become the mainstream Apple’s evolution strategy likely to affect major players in value chain Novel features will affect mobile operators, content creators, aggregators and consumers. The novel move places Apple at cost advantage in the market competition. However, soon, other competitors will come up with better services. They will create effective strategies in digital system to lure more users Cloud computing has changed business models as well as creating novel business opportunities.
