UNIT 9 WHAT I PLAN TO DO NEXT

University course I have found 3 different courses out of 5 in the university of arts in London I have chosen them to suit what types of photography that I like and find most interesting they are: fashion photography, photojournalism and commercial photography

Commercial photography – The university of arts london -In this course you learn how to use different types of Nikon, canon Hasselblad analogue and digital camera -The commercial photography course develops your knowledge of the commercial photography world on how it works on a photographic stand point and from commercial stand point as the name of the course suggests -there is a lot of work in the studio doing a lot of advertising work for different companies for what ever they do be it modelling and or advertising for object e.g. watches -To do this course you need 112 UCAS points from 2 A – levels or the equivalent - It’s a a 3 year course at £9,250

Photo journalism This course teaches you about photo journalism which is photography for the news mainly and can also be for individuals to report on things them selves During the course you will cover real events that happen and taking photos of people like politicians, celebrities and other newsworthy people at the time and you also work for the universities own magazine - 3 year course at £9,250 with a minimum of 64 UCAS points from a diploma and you also need 5 GCSE a - c

Fashion photography With this course you learn to become a professional fashion photographer and photo maker and learn all of the necessary skills needed During the course you learn all different types of digital photo manipulation and production and because of the nature of the type of photography you will be in and out of the photo studio doing shoots on location and in the studio depending ad what you need to do You need a level passes at grace c or above some of the subjects that are preferred for this are art, design, fashion, media studies and obviously photography thi scouse like the other is 3 years at £9,250

Career paths instead of/after university Running a photography business (financial and marketing) also doing the photograph and editing and printing as well and depending on how successful it may become hiring other staff to do certain jobs and potentially growing the business into a relatively big company doing all different types for photography going from weddings to concerts and gigs Working for an already established photographic company and doing what ever role you applied for and got. Working for news agencies big and small Free lance photography for different magazines news outlets can be good for experience and can also be good financial incomes sometimes if you get the right photo but its not the most stable of careers because you wont always get the right picture that earns a good amount of money Having a good portfolio is good for applying for any of these jobs because companies want to see that you are actually capable of what you are saying that you do and proving it
