Using Canada’s Food Guide Think of a meal you ate somewhere other than your home and tell me if it was healthy or not. How could it have been healthier?

What would you do? You finish your lunch and are stuffed. Your friend offers you some of a sandwich. It is your favourite sandwich, but you are really full. What should you do?

What would you do? You get home from school and you are so hungry! Your babysitter asks what you would like for a snack, and pulls out cheese, crackers and carrot sticks as well as some cookies. What do you choose?

Harmful Behaviours What are some behaviours that are harmful for your health? What are some things that you can do that are healthier or that protect your health and the health of other people?

What would you do? You are at a restaurant with your parents. It is your turn to order. You see a hamburger with a choice of French fries, onion rings or carrot sticks. Which do you choose?

What would you do? You go to a friend’s house to play outside but all they want to do is sit and watch TV. What do you do?

What would you do? You are at a birthday party and there are tons of candies and treats for lunch. There are also veggies and fruit. You get to pick what you want to eat. What do you pick?

What would you do? After a soccer game your aunt takes you to a convenience store to buy a drink. She lets you pick any drink you want. That’s when you notice the cool new energy drink that you saw a commercial for. You are really thirsty. What do you pick?

Healthy and Harmful Habits A habit that is good for my health is… A habit that is harmful for my health is… I will try to change the habit that can be harmful to my health and __________ instead.

Healthy Snack Party! We’re going to plan a healthy snack party for the final class of the unit. With your parents or guardians at home, come up with 3 different ideas for a snack. Back in class, we’ll sort out one snack per person.
