NAMES OF MEN IMPORTANT TO THE COLONIZATION OF TEXAS The French in Louisiana and in Texas pose a threat to Spanish land claims Spain’s goal was to convert the natives to Christianity Spain agrees to build a mission to convert Caddo Indians on Father Massanet’s request. Many Natives did not want to change their lifestyles/religion. Why do you think early colonizers made a favorable report about E. Texas? Spain expected that the Caddoes friendliness and trade network would spread Catholicism
