Arizona National Scenic Trail 3 of 4 parts - Arizona Trail Association’s Arizona Trail Interactive Map, which links to a description and photos of each trail segment and has plus downloadable GPS files 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

The Arizona National Scenic Trail is an 800 mile recreation trail from Mexico to Utah. It serves dayhikers, backpackers, equestrians, mountain bicyclists, trail runners, nature enthusiasts, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and mule and llama packers. The Arizona Trail Association (ATA) is a non-profit volunteer membership organization, seeking active supporters of the Trail, coordinating volunteers, and provides other essential services to those that use the Arizona Trail. AGIC Symposium 2015 9/25/2015

Pioneer Title Agency celebrated its 30th anniversary with a unique challenge: Pioneer associates pledged to collectively cover all 800 miles of the Arizona Trail and raise $30,000 for the Arizona Trail Association from Spring of 2015. ATA Setup an aztrail.org webpage for Pioneer Title employees to contribute money report their travels on the Arizona Trail With NAU’s GRAIL (Geospatial Research and Information Lab) ArcGIS Online account, a map was created to provide guidance when traveling the trail and to record their travels which would be used to update the list and interactive map of completed segments 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Even through the Arizona Trail Association (ATA) has its own ArcGIS Online Organization Account, we did not have the credits to create a user account for the 30 Pioneer Title offices in Arizona. Every ArcGIS Desktop license is entitled to have an ArcGIS Online account with one assigned (able to login) user BIG thanks to NAU’s GRAIL as we were able to temporarily utilize their ArcGIS Online user accounts to collect tracks, points, and picture data for 5 months We utilized 1 Intern from each of the 3 State Universities to setup a database, map, then publish, share this data, and provide instructions/documentation to the Pioneer Title users to consume in the field (in offline mode) to report their travels. 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Overview of the project Get a group of interns, delegate tasks, online meetings Database setup with domains and fields to capture data in the field Import feature services from ATA’s ArcGIS Online account Publish data, maps to share with a group Only ArcGIS Online credits needed to create 30 assigned users within NAU’s GRAIL account Provide documentation 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Prepare Data in ArcGIS for Desktop Create a File Geodatabase with ArcCatalog In ArcCatalog setup geodatabase Domains. Domains = Drop down list Enter the Coded Values list. Coded Values = list of items in drop down list 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Prepare Data in ArcGIS for Desktop Define the feature class Coordinate System: WGS 84 Set up the fields Connect the Domain to the fields Add feature class to ArcMap Symbolize Fill in all the sections of Map Document Properties 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Publish Data in ArcGIS for Desktop Sign in to your ArcGIS organization Share as a Service & Publish (or overwrite an existing service to update) Select a connection: “My Hosted Services” Service editor Capabilities check - Feature Access; uncheck - Tiled Mapping Item description imported from Map Documents Properties or required to fill in Publish 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Create and share a map for data collection Log in to your organization’s ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS Create a Map Choose a basemap Add the layer(s) you published from ArcMap Add & search the layer in My Organization Edit the name of the layer & pop-up settings… Save! 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Configure the Map’s attribute settings Within the pop-up properties > Configure Attributes Turn on/off attributes Set fields that are Editable or not Change field alias from the field name… Save! 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Customize map application settings Enable: prevent accidental deletion & offline mode Settings include the ability to route, measure, change basemaps, find locations (some are enabled by default). For field collection, turn on Find Locations By Layer (feature search) Works in offline mode whereas address search does not 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Share your map Share with everyone or just a group of assigned users Groups are created by an assigned user, categorized: Public Organization (only seen within org) Private Can invite other assigned users to the group and they accept Therefore, to test and accept the group invite, we needed to log into each assigned user account 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

Sign into the Collector App to use your map Enable location (GPS) on your device Start ArcGIS Collector Sign in using the web address for the organization Tap on a map to open (download is enabled when enabling offline use) Tools at bottom allow for data capture and entry of attributes as drop down lists using the domains that were setup in the File Geodatabase 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015

With add features you can attach a file such as a picture Can setup a tracking layer to see where user is while collecting data Can use offline by downloading basemap and feature service data. When back online, use sync to upload Collector can only capture one type of feature at a time (point, polyline) like ArcGIS You can learn all the detailed steps using a Damage Assessment Tutorial for Collector at: http://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector/ 9/25/2015 AGIC Symposium 2015
