Learning the basics!

The angle of elevation is the angle of looking up, measure from the horizontal. The angle of depression is the angle of looking down, measured from the horizontal.

Statue Of Liberty

Background information! The statue of liberty, was a gift of friendship for the United States, from the French people. The Statue symbolizes democracy, freedom and as well, friendship. The statue celebrated its 100th birthday on October, 28, 1986. The artist who designed the statue was Frederic Auguste Barthholdi and the total height of the statue of liberty is 93 metres tall! The statue’s full name is Liberty Enlightening the World. The statue, represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. The statue's face was apparently, modeled on the sculptor's mother, Charlotte.  Although you cannot see the Statue of Liberty’s feet properly, she is in fact standing among a broken chains, showing the control and the freedom of the country.

Angle of Elevation! Let, ‘x’ be the height of the statue of liberty. Since there is no hypotenuse marked we are going to try and find it using SOH CAH TOA The Adjacent ( the adjacent is always found between the two marked sides) and the Opposite are given. So therefore.. 4. Because the x is at the top, you multiply both sides by 18. So.. 18 5. Put the pervious step into the calculator And waalaah! You have your answer! = 20
