Chapter 10.3 “The Colonist’s victory and its impact” Pages 198-203

The Battle of Yorktown(pg. 198-199) One of the most famous battles of the Revolutionary War! American and French forces attacked the British causing General Cornwallis to surrender to the Americans!!!!!! On October 19, 1781, thousands of Red Coats/British soldiers lay down their weapons The Patriots/Americans had won the Revolution!

After the Battle of Yorktown (Pg. 199) Although the British surrendered in Yorktown, fighting did not end everywhere! Nathaneal Greene forced British out of Georgia and South Carolina AND, civil war to place between citizens, here, in North Carolina (now, starting on the 2nd paragraph in section) In North Carolina, small bands of armed men pretending to be _____________ or _________________ robbed and killed people and burned down their homes. Why could these violent actions not be stopped easily? One of the leaders of these armed gangs was a Loyalist named __________________. Finally, in 1782, the Brits finally gave up forts in SC and Georgia, followed by giving up their posts in NY in 1783 TWO YEARS after the Battle of Yorktown
