Mini (Dummyloop) Can be a good choice to break the defense (½ pitch line or 40m line) especially if opponent 10 is a bad tackler From scrum mostly First phase 10 to 12 and dummies a loop, ball goes from 12 to inside wing Close support 12 and forwards (most likely flankers) Clearing the ruck offload chance 2nd phase 9 continues play to open side 10,13, 15,outside wing + quick forwards Attack to space

9 13 14 10 12 11 12 Frw support 9 10 13 15 Ball is ready to be played again and attackers should be in bigger amount 14

Sininen (Miss 1) Move to get the ball wide 10 passes to 13 Quick second phase (making an overlap) Quick ball for quick forwards or support backs (offload?) 10 passes to 13 12 calls for a 12 up 13 is on the same depth as 12 Quick forward support 11,15 support runs 14 wide option for break through

10 12 13 Scrum/lineout/forwards ruck 9 9 10 12 13 11 15 14

10 12 13 9 9 9-10 pass 10 13 12 11 15 14

9 12 13 10 9 12 10 Long flat pass 10-13 in 12’s back 13 11 15 14

9 10 12 13 9 12 10 13 11 15 14

15 14 9 10 12 13 Frwd Support 12 13 9 15 11 10 14 Inside pass to 11 Outside pass to 15

If ball goes inside to 11 Quick rucking with 12 and 13 Fast ball to remaining backs Potential play inside with the fastest forwards If ball goes outside to 15 2 vs 2 with opposite full back and winger (if opposite 15 comes up fast: either kick and chase or cross run 15-14) If 15 or 14 gets tackled, 2 closest backs to ruck and 9 plays fast with the forwards (either same side if there is space, or random)

X ball Move to get the ball wide Same placement as Sininen or Metallica 10 passes to 15 12 calls for a crash ball 13 runs fast as he would support 12 15 stay deep and gets the ball 13 changes his run fast to support 15

10 12 13 Scrum/lineout/forwards ruck 9 9 10 13 12 11 15 14

10 12 13 9 9 9-10 pass 10 13 12 11 15 14

12 13 10 9 12 calls for crash ball, 13 supports 9 10 13 12 11 15 14

9 10 12 13 12 13 9 10 15 11 14 Wide pass in 13’s back for 15 14 runs a bit inside to come closer to 15 and offer a potential offload solution

15 14 9 10 13 12 12 Frwd Support 15 9 10 13 14 11 15 takes the space 13 readapts his run to be the inside support of 15

15 14 9 10 13 12 13 15 12 14 Frwd Support 9 10 11 Options: If the full back comes up fast, 2 vs 2 on the outisde Pop inside if the opposite 13 is late Switch runs 15 – 14 to create confusion and avoid the touch line Kick low and chase (make sure you have enough space for that!) If the full back doesn’t come up 15 takes space and looks for offload or poping to 13 (inside) or to 14 (outside)

Metallica (Miss1loop) Move to get the ball wide 10 passes to 13 Quick second phase (making an overlap) Quick ball for quick forwards or support backs (offload?) 10 passes to 13 12 loops 13 Quick forward support 11,15 support runs 14 wide option for break through

10 12 13 Scrum/lineout/forwards ruck 9 9 10 13 12 11 15 14

10 12 13 9 9 9-10 pass 10 13 12 11 15 14

12 13 10 9 9 Long flat pass 10-13 10 13 12 11 15 14

10 12 13 9 9 10 13 12 12 starts running a loop 11 15 14

15 14 9 10 13 12 Frwd Support 12-13 pass (outside shoulder) 9 10 13 12 11 15 14

15 14 9 10 12 13 13 9 10 12 11 15 14 12 runs straight challenges opposition 13

14 9 Breaking point 15 Breaking point 10 13 12 13 12 11 14 9 15 10 12 has various options: Take it in (look for space) Pop inside for inside winger Pass outside for 15 Long pass to winger Watch the defense’s switch and opposite 15 position to make the right decision

Second phase: Quick ball To the forwards if too many backs were used To the remaining backs if the 12 took it in “Random” call if there’s an out number possibility with one or two backs and the late forwards

Sähly Really similar to X Ball 10 passes to 15 or 13 12 calls for a crash ball 13 runs fast as he gets a crash ball as well 15 stays behind 12 on the same depth as 13 10 can either miss pass to crash 13 or play wider to 15

10 12 13 9 9 9-10 pass 10 12 13 15 11 14

10 12 13 9 9 10 12 13 15 14 11 12 calls for a crash ball 13 gains space and goes for a miss pass 15 runs sideways and takes 13’s initial place

10 12 13 9 12 9 13 10 15 11 Passing options are: Flat miss pass to 13 Wide bit still quite flat to 15 14

10 12 13 9 13 15 12 9 10 14 11 If 13 gets the ball: Aim for 12-13 gap Offload solution inside with 12 Offload solution outside with 15 If 15 gets the ball: Centers must keep opposite centers attention to give enough space to 15 to break the line 15 wins as much space as possible Analyze potential 2 vs 2 situation (see X Ball) Offload outside with 14 and inside with 13

League Playing with two lines of backs Interesting close to the try line from lineout or scrum Fast move, positions and runs must confuse the defense First line is dummy line, the second is the playing line

10 12 13 9 Initial position of the players Positions of 10 – 12 and 13 – 15 can be switched. In this example we will go with first line 10-13 and second line 12-15 9 10 1st line 12 13 2nd line 15 11 14

10 12 13 9 9 10 runs for the ball (like usual) 10 9 – 12 pass 12 13 15 11 Inside winger starts running outside 14

10 12 13 9 13 calls for a crash ball 10 9 12 13 12 -15 pass BUT we must feel that the pass goes to 13 as crash ball 15 11 Wingers get ready to attack with 15 14

9 10 12 13 10 13 12 9 15 11 Dummy calls players (10 and 13 in this case) must aim to dummy the gaps to be 100% they won’t screen the defenders. 14 If the defense gets surprised and doesn’t drift, it should be a 3 vs 2 + 1 (+1 is late 13 coming straight at the 15) This move should be a decisive thing (used in the opposite 22m to score). Use your footwork, look for offloads, run hard and straight!

Pinkki At any time during the game if there is an overlap (really similar to random) 10 shouts ”Pinkki” to 9 for a fast ball 9 plays the other side while 10 runs for the ball The goal is to use the surprise reaction time of the opposite team by gaining as much space as possible

10 calls pinkki and run as he’d get the ball 9 passes to 12 9 14 11 10 13 12 9 Ruck 10 calls pinkki and run as he’d get the ball 9 passes to 12 9 10 12 14 13 Group of forwards 15 11 Initial direction of the first plays

14 11 10 13 12 9 Players take the space as fast as possible and play simple hands drill to keep the overlap (no miss pass!) 10’s dummy call 10 9 12 14 13 11 15 Group of forwards Initial direction of the first plays

14 11 10 9 13 12 12 13 15 11 9 10 Group of forwards Forwards are ready for pop passes (inside or outisde) and for rucking Play hands and wide to gain space 14 stays a bit back in case of counter attack or need for random with 10 14

Linna (B Channel kick n chase) AS A SET MOVE From lineout or scrum Anytime during the game if no or late opposite 15 Kick chase must be fast and aggressive Opposite side winger should remain a bit behind in case of bad kick or bad chase and opposite 15 decides to play quick or kick back

9 10 12 13 Scrum/lineout Ball 9 10 12 13 11 14 15

10 12 13 9 10 12 13 14 12, 13, and 14 on the same line, quite flat but BEHIND 10 Inside winger remains a bit more back, just in case 15 11

15 14 9 12 13 10 10 12 13 14 10 kicks, between 10 and 12 in the B channel 12 and 13 chase fast and hard 15 11

15 14 12 13 12 9 10 13 14 10 15 11 Good chase from 12 and 13 10, 12, and 13 are ready for rucking If 12 gets tackled: 10 and 13 ruck, 9 plays fast for 15 If 13 gets tackled: 10 and 12 ruck, 9 plays fast for 15 Inside winger remains back in case of counterattack

Sukla (C channel kick n chase) AS A SET MOVE From lineout or scrum Anytime during the game if no or late opposite 15 or no open side winger Kick chase must be fast and aggressive Opposite side winger should remain a bit behind in case of bad kick or bad chase and opposite 15 decides to play quick or kick back

9 10 12 13 Scrum/lineout Ball 9 10 12 13 11 14 15

10 12 13 9 10 12 13 14 12, 13, and 14 on the same line, quite flat but BEHIND 10 Inside winger remains a bit more back, just in case 15 11

15 14 9 12 13 10 10 12 13 14 11 15 10 kicks in opposite winger’s back for outside winger to chase 12 and 13 chase fast as well in case of inside ball bounce or need of offload Same as Linna, inside winger remains a bit back in case of counterattack

15 14 9 13 10 12 10 14 12 13 15 11 Opposite 15 should come quickly to cover Outside winger should look for support from 12, 13, and potentially 15 11 remains back
