Teknologi Dan Rekayasa Melakukan pekerjaan dengan mesin umum

GENERAL MACHINE REQUIREMENT Objective : After studying this unit, the student will be able to : List general shop safety rules List the safety rules for the use of power tools

GENERAL MACHINE REQUIREMENT Each worker must assume responsibility for the safe operation of any equipment he is using. The worker must maintain and operate any machine in strict conformance with the manufacturer’s safety rules and guidelines and those established by the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Accident in the shop are caused by careless, preoccupied and overconfident people.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES The following list of rules applies to all machines in the shop. Before closing the switch to turn on the power to the machine, clean the machine and inspect for loose, worn, damaged, or broken parts. Pay particular attention to the linkage, oil lines, belts, springs, and chains. Remove tools and spare machine parts from the working area. Check the tightness of the tooling and attaching parts.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES Check the operating devices and guards to insure proper condition, placement and adjustment. Check the clutch and brake for proper operation. During operation, check the machine for overloading Report any questionable operation or unusual action of the machine to the instructor, foreman or supervisor.

SAFETY RULES FOR POWER TOOLS The following safety rules for the use of power tools. Know your power tool Ground all tools unless double insulated Keep guards in place and working order. Keep the work area clean Avoid dangerous environments Keep all visitors away from the work area Store unneeded tools

SAFETY RULES FOR POWER TOOLS Don’t force any tool Use the right tool Wear the proper apparel Use safety glasses with most tools Don’t abuse the electrical cord. Secure your work Don’t overreach. Maintain tools with care. Disconnect tools. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Avoid accidental starts

STATIONARY POWER OPERATED MACHINE Each type of power operated machine has specially designed safety devices to protect both the operator and the machine. The machine operator must be completely familiar with and understand the operating procedure for the machine and the use of the special safety devices. Through trial and error, the operator must learn the numerous settings and adjustments of the machine for various types and gages of metal. Allowance formulas and other suggested rules are useful as a guide only. Practical allowances are determined on the machine itself.
