Membership Recruitment Membership Recruitment by _____________________________ Region Training Conference 2016 Name, Position

Why did YOU decide to join Key Club? Did someone convince you? How? What inspired you to choose Key Club? What made you stay?

Why is Membership Recruitment Important? Members are the core of Key Club International Remember, we are all first and foremost members Without them, our organization would not continue to exist Members inspire us to work harder 2016-2017 District Goal: 3 new members beyond retention

How can I recruit members? Ask your friends and promote around the school. Creating posters and posting on the school bulletin to help advertise meetings/events or anything Key Club related. You can not over advertise something so make sure the word gets out Ask them to personally promote Key Club Ask friends and family to get involved. Ask your audience to explain what Key Club really is and what we do. Also share with your audience some benefits of Key Club.

Example of a poster.

What other ways can I recruit members? Make use of school events such as club rushes. (basically a showcase of the clubs at school.) Hook them with an incentive. (Free food always works.) Represent yourself to others and the community. Dress to impress Bring them to events! Show them what Key Club truly is about! Give them interesting events Look Approachable First impressions are everything. Make sure to represent yourself well and show that your having a good time (club meetings) Explain what Key Club means to you and ask what the audience think Be interactive with your audience and make sure to smile 

Get help from outside sources (ask your LTG or Kiwanis to help you) Advertise fun events like Fall Rally, Region Training Conference (RTC) and fun service projects. For example: (Beach cleanups or volunteering at local fairs) Get help from outside sources (ask your LTG or Kiwanis to help you) Do small things for your members Example: Bring them treats, coordinate transportation or get to know them. Talk about what Fall Rally and RTC is and make sure that the audience you are presenting to also understands. Give examples of Service Projects you might have done that drew a lot of members Make sure they understand that you and the Kiwanis are there for them. Use some examples of Small things that may not be on the PP

Other ideas may include: Key Club booth at school registration. Make clothespins with meeting details (Location & Date) to 'tag' potential members with during club rush day.  Use fun facts such as “Did you know that Tom Cruise and Bill Clinton were both in Key Club?” – True Fact Also explain these bullet points Give your own ideas Make sure that the Key Club booth is presented to the admins before August. And maybe ask for their ideas as well. Make sure to explain that (this idea should be planned out and presented to school admins BEFORE August) Examples are on next slide

Remember to share: - Personal experiences - Leadership guidance Leadership opportunities are everywhere! - Core values - Our projects & major emphasis programs

Remember to Share (cont.): - Rewards of service Good feelings, giving back - New friendships Friendships aren’t solely within your home school Make new friends within the division, too! - Key Club facts Do we make keys?

Use a poster cutout for potential members to take photos with. Example of Poster Cutout

Retain Members Of course, it is also hard to retain the members you recruited. Try: Planning meaningful service events Mention DCON & future events Think of incentives Share with them Opportunities Scholarships, fun events, etc. Give them a goal/objective to reach

? ? Questions? Comments? Concerns? Good luck this year!
