Kitchen Job Descriptions

chef In charge of the kitchen. Makes sure recipe is accurately followed. Gives out cooking jobs in a recipe. Checks on clean-up jobs (washer, dryer, counter cleaner, helper). If someone in his/her group is absent, assists Helper with absentee’s job as well as his/her own. Fills out paperwork if necessary.

Washer Washes all dishes in hot soapy water. Washes dishes as group is preparing recipe to save time and help keep kitchen area clean. Cleans sink and faucet area and wipes dry. Puts away cleaning supplies at end of period.

Dryer Dries EVERYTHING! Puts dishes away either on the counter or in the kitchen bins for the next class. Wipes off dish-drainer and drain-board and puts under the sink. Places all used towels in laundry basket.

Counter and Stove Cleaner Uses wash cloth to wipe down counter with hot water. Cleans stove top. Checks and cleans fronts of cabinets, and stoves. Uses additional wash cloth to dry counter and stove. Places all used wash cloths in laundry basket.

Retriever Gathers all necessary ingredients and utensils for the lab. Also, is responsible for returning ingredients (making sure to secure the lids) and utensils to their designated location during clean-up.

Helper Takes any absentee’s place first. In charge of sweeping kitchen area floor with broom and dust pan. Also, when clean-up time is called, provides assistance to teacher if necessary.
