Edexcel GCSE Mathematics (9-1) from 2015 – 1MA1

Mathematics - School support Thursday after school targeted revision sessions. Starting after half term. Teachers available at lunchtimes. Mock analysis and topic specific targeted homework. Scheme of work finished in March 2016. Exam practice – past papers.

GCSE English Language and Literature

What students have done and what is to come Students will be working on their spoken language in the Autumn term 2016 (which will be reported separately) English Literature Paper 1 – (40%) – 22nd May 2017 English Literature Paper 2 - (60%) – 26th May 2017 English Language Paper 1 – (50%) – 6th June 2017 English Language Paper 2 – (50%) – 12th June 2017

How we are preparing students Regular timed exam practice and feedback Revision of novel/plays and poetry Focus on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG) 1-1 or small group intervention targeted for specific skill revision Mock examinations in November and March Drop in sessions during study leave Sample essays, mark schemes and examiner feedback.

GCSE Science 2016-2017

Science Key Points Almost all non-triple science students completed Core Science GCSE last year, achieving excellent results. This grade is fixed and exams cannot be retaken. Students are now studying Additional Science GCSE, completing Controlled Assessment at the moment Additional Science is arranged like Core Science: 25% Controlled Assessment 75% Two exams in late May/early June 2017

Science Key Points Revision guides bought last year cover Additional Science also. Students can purchase them for £3.50 from the Prep room if they didn’t buy one. Triple Science students have two exams per Science in the Summer. Controlled Assessment will take place shortly if not completed already. It’s never to early to start producing revision resources based on textbooks and classwork!

Post-16 Progression: key dates 6th Form Information Evening: Thursday 10th November 2016, 6.30 – 8.30pm Individual Meetings with a senior teacher: week beginning 14th November (parents welcome to attend this meeting too) Deadline for 6th Form Applications: Friday 9th December 2nd Year 11 Parents Evening: Wednesday 5th April 2017 Follow-up Meeting with senior link (if required): April/May 2017 6th Form Induction Days: Mon 3rd & Tues 4th July 2017 (attendance at both induction days compulsory for those progressing to 6th Form) GCSE results & 6th Form Enrolment Day: Thurs 24th August 2017
