Grace Ye and Sally Bryant Pepperdine University Better Together: Sakai & SIPX Grace Ye and Sally Bryant Pepperdine University Nov. 2, 2016
Sakai & Library Integration Motivations for Sakai & Library Integration Library resources are important for teaching and learning environment. Instructors select materials appropriate to the curriculum, not based on online availability and persistent URLs. Students often unfamiliar with library resources. Librarians need to push the library resources into the Sakai in a way that students would expect.
Copyright Pepperdine is concerned with the copyright of materials posted on the Sakai site. Our instructors have been advised to take appropriate steps to address copyright compliance before they post copyrighted materials to Sakai.
Issues New technology makes copyright issues more complicated. Both instructors and library staff need faster and easier ways to manage copyright permissions and to set up course reading. Tools are needed to help instructors and library staff in determining whether the course materials are in compliance with copyright restrictions.
