Student African American Brotherhood SAAB is a culturally sensitive school-based intervention with a very uniquely structured approach that aims to increase the number of young men of color who graduate from high school and college by creating a positive peer community.

SAAB Founder/CEO Where it all began… Started in 1990 at Georgia Southwestern State University by Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe to address academic challenges of AA males. National Headquarters housed at the University of Toledo. More than 250 collegiate, high and middle school chapters to date. Primarily at PWI’s. Designed to bring Black and Brown males together regardless of background, socio-economic status, religion, affiliations (i.e., Greeks, non-Greeks, Athletes). Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe, Sr.

SAAB’s Objectives: Saving Lives... Salvaging Dreams. Create a college-going, staying and graduating culture. Close the achievement gap. Increase success via college preparation, access and participation. Persistence and retention as desired outcomes. Build partnerships and collaborations with K-12 schools, community colleges, 4-year institutions, national organizations, community based organizations, faith-based institutions and families.
