Parts of Speech Noun – person, place, thing, idea Adjective –describes a noun Verb – action word Adverb – describes a adjective, verb, or other adverb Article –a/an Preposition – links nouns (the dog is ___ the table) Interjection – break in the sentence Pronoun – replace the noun Conjunction – links words or phrases Conjunctive Adverbs – linking words used with semicolons
