David Crockett High School Battle of the Belt Educational Scrapbook 2016-2017

2016-2017 HOSA Competitive Events Class Our class had so much fun this year participating in Battle of the Belt. We feel like we really made a difference in the minds of our students and made a really big impact! We look forward to participating in the future with Tennessee Battle of the Belt and hope to keep this good habit in our students, future and past! We thank you for giving us the chance to do this for our school!

Our Educational Ideas Prom Promise Weekly Announcements In school buckle up Expo Twitter account #DCbucklesup Guest Speakers Student to Students speaker Pledge cards Pledge Banner Student advocates during lunch

Seat Belt Checks – Bring it ON!! We had three random seatbelt checks and had 4 students participate each morning. Lots of donuts and coffee!!

How Better to Spread the Word?? #DCbucklesup Tweet Tweet!!!! Each person in our school, or on our twitter account was asked to take a picture of themselves wearing their seatbelts and put it on twitter! #DCbucklesup We had a lot of student and teacher participants!!

I PLEDGE TO THE BELT!! Our students designed a banner and encouraged others to sign and pledge to buckle up! It was a very fun week and we ended up with LOTS of signatures!! This will be displayed in our school cafeteria! We also had pledge cards the students could keep with them as a reminder.

Student to Students One of our students put together a wonderful presentation on seat belt safety, she presented this to three drivers education classes. She had a huge impact and was a great influence!!

Be Our Guest!! We had lots of guest speakers come out to visit and speak with our classes about seat belt safety, drunk driving, and driving under the influence! Lots of fun and lots of learning!

I INTERUPT YOUR LUNCH TO BRING YOU THIS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT…. Students gave up their lunch to speak with the others students about seatbelt safety during lunch. They passed out informational flyers and candy!

DC Buckles Up Expo! The HOSA Class designed display boards on seatbelt safety. We sat up during all lunches to talk to kids about seat belt safety. Lots of fun, games and candy!

Lets Start the Morning with a Fun Fact!! Two of our HOSA seniors gave a seat belt fact every Friday morning to keep the education in the minds fresh!

Prom Promise This is an event our SADD club and HOSA clubs sponsor every year before prom for education. We set up a mock car accident where students have made destructive decisions and weren’t wearing their seat belts. This helps show the irreversible consequences and usually leaves a huge mark.

We Extend Our Many Thanks! We would like to extend our many thanks to our Health Occupations Students of America Club (HOSA), Student’s Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), members of the Washington County school board, and members of the community for helping with funding for our education. And especially our site coordinator Heatherly Sifford, who helped us with anything we needed. We couldn’t have done it without you!

DCHS PIONEERS!! #DCbucklesup That was our year! The end to a great one and beginning to an even better year! DCHS PIONEERS!! #DCbucklesup
