Plotting Points Jessica Tate
Do you know what the x-axis and y-axis are? The x-axis is the horizontal axis on a grid The y-axis is the vertical axis on a grid Also notice where the origin is. This is the point (0,0).
When plotting points the first coordinate is the x-coordinate and the second is the y-coordinate (x,y)
Let’s practice by plotting When plotting the coordinate (2,4) start at the origin and go 2 units to the right and 4 units up.
What about negative coordinates? Negative x coordinates are to the left of the origin and negative y coordinates are below the origin. Since the x value, 3 is negative it is on the left side of the origin.
