Test Cryostat at KEK -- Original Plan MICE Cryocooler RDK-415D MICE Test Absorber

Absorber Test Subjects at KEK Test Absorber  Real Absorber #1, #2, #3 (1) Absorber leak test at 20K and 4.2K * body, pipes, In seal … (2) LH2 absorber (< 1 L) * pre-cooling process with LN2 or without LN2 * cooling speed, warm up speed * cooling power and heat leak test (3) LHe absorber 1.5W@4.2K * pre-cooling process with LN2 or LHe * How much additional Lhe, if it needs? (4) Instrumentation * LH2 level and temperature sensor test * control and DAQ (5) Real window test at 20 K?

Test Cryostat with Test Absorber

New Parts (1) Needs Modify > Aluminum plug at top > KF25 & pipe on window Needs Parts on/in Absorber > Flexible pipes > LH2 level sensor > Thermometers > G10 supports

New Parts (2) Needs Parts around condenser > LH2 condenser body > Flexible pipes > Thermal links > Feedthrough

Top Flange & Absorber Support

H2 Condenser Cryocooler Cryocooler Bottom Flange Indium/Grease - Copper Flange; T=6 mm - Screws; 6-M5 on copper - Weight 2~3Kg Mechanical design Good thermal contact LH2 Supply 5 mm higher than bottom to keep LH2 level KEK LH2 target

Test Cryostat with MICE Absorber Needs pipe joints

Absorber Test Cryostat Cryocooler

Absorber Test Cryostat

Parts (1)

Absorber is now at the company to modify the top port and window. Parts (2) Fix and Flexible Tubes Test Absorber Absorber is now at the company to modify the top port and window. G10-SUPPORT

Parts (3)

Summary Test items at KEK (2) The Cryocooler, test absorber, T.M.P. and vacuum gauges were temporally assembled to decide pipe length. (3) The LH2 condenser and related parts were designed and ordered. (4) Flexible and fixed pipes were designed and ordered. (5) Feedthrough (48pins) were ordered. (6) We will start the parts assemble from mid-November. (7) Absorber cooling starts this year 1st test; Cryocooler + H2 condenser cooling test 2nd test; with absorber cooling test 3rd test; cooling power and heat leak test  LHe absorber test
