WELCOME! Art I 2016-2017 Ms. Hinojosa shinoj1@neisd.net Rm AS105 Roosevelt High School Art Department Ms. Hinojosa shinoj1@neisd.net Rm AS105 Art I Overview This course provides a strong foundation for visual art. You will study the elements of art and principles of design and apply these concepts to your own art works. You will explore drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. You will learn about art history and the study of cultures. You will learn how to talk and write about artworks through the process of art criticism. This course will prepare you for level II art courses. Expectations Follow all classroom, school, and district rules and regulations. BE RESPECTFUL: Treat others and our environment with respect. BE RESPONSIBLE and SAFE: Follow directions. Handle materials properly. Take care of your work and work area. BE DILIGENT: Come to class on time and stay on task. Believe in yourself—don’t give up! BE POSITIVE: Show compassion and kindness. Keep an open mind! BE ORIGINAL: Do your own work. Supplies: Please bring a pencil to class each day! Materials will be provided. Studio Ground Rules: Be in class on time. No food or drinks allowed at the work area. No meals in class. No electronics without teacher permission. No photos/recording in class. Clean up after yourself. Do not wait at the door before the end of class.
