Anambra State Bureau of Statistics IMPORTANCE OF THE SBS IN ANAMBRA AS IT RELATES TO PLANNING AND INVESTMENT DRIVE The Anambra Bureau is a Government owned Agency and is the first choice destination of every Data, Surveys, Enumeration and Data Users in the state. The Willie Obiano‘s Administration fully recognises the Bureau as an Agency to assist in economic planning and Investment Drive. It has in its own way contributed immensely to the development of Statistics in the State. The SBS in Anambra renders Statistical Services to the Government on request. It has worked with the Government Team ANAMBRA ECONOMIC THINK TANK TEAM in providing Vital Statistics that is evidence based and used for Planning, Setting Targets and for Driving Investment in the State. Anambra State Bureau of Statistics Becoming a reputable Service provide to the Private Sector (self sufficiency and sustainability plan) Dwindling Revenues from Federation Account, has forced States to look inwards to achieve self sufficiency (current level: FAAC: 80%/IGR 20%) – must be rejigged Two broad initiatives: (1) Public Private Partnerships; and (2) IGR enhancement ABoS (along with other MDAs) must become self sufficient Gradual shift of ‘Major’ client (MDAs vs. Private Sector) Closer working relationship between ANSIPPA and ABoS Establishing linkages between Chambers of Commerce and ABoS Quality assurance, turnaround time; and Leveraging ICT (commercially viable research database) How can this be achieved?
