What is the Webelos Program Purpose To prepare Cub Scouts to become Boy Scouts. Character Building Age Appropriate Activities ~ Work with Den Chief Program starts to Model the Boy Scout Program Different Uniform Parts 18 month Program It should ….. Create a Desire to Continue on…. Generate Interest. Explore New Activities.

How is the Webelos Different from Cub Scouts? Different Achievement Earned Rank Badge can be different. Activity Pins verses Achievement and Electives. More Skill Based More Activities Completed at the Den Meetings. Less at Home. Activities can take a couple of Meetings. Den Leader Signs Off on Requirement Completion. ~ Not the parent Even those normally not bridge too.

Den Meeting & Activity Badges Plan Activities and Den Meeting (Plan during summer before Webelos 1) Start using Open & Closing Format – Patrol Format Have Scouts earn their Webelos Badge. Have Scouts earn their Arrow of Light! Learn what Boy Scouts is about Helps Create Interest. Activities Badges are more specific. Activities are More Involved. Review Requirements. Material More In Depth Levels Typically Covering 2 or 3 Den Meetings. Covering More Topics used in Scouting. Get parents and other groups involved. Use your Area Scout Troops. Start making Activities more independent. Completing all 20 Activity Badges - Not a Requirement.

1st Year Webelos Get Outside Going to Boys Love to Explore Under Proper Supervision, the Scouts are Looking for More Grown Up Activities, More independence & Responsibility. Going to Mall Shows District Camporee Visit Council Camps During Fall, Winter, Spring Start Interacting with Neighborhood Troops Do Some Joint Activities Have the Troops Teach some Skills.-Knots and Tent Setups

1st Year Webelos Tools Projects are Different More Involved. They can Do More. Practical Uses Repairing a Flat Tire on a Bike. House Repairs. Projects are Different Results indicate More maturity and Growth Have Fun!!! Have Fun!!! Have Fun!!!

Webelos 2nd Year Activities Activity Pin Requirements Continue Plan Arrow of Light Ceremony - Blue/Gold Banquet Organize Troop Visit. Make Sure Troop Visits are Top Notch! Emphasis to Troops – Visits need to be Organized. Full Meeting with Opening & Closing. Informative for Both Webelos & Parents. Have Fun!! Have Fun!! Have Fun!! Encourage Webelos to Continue – 6 Months to Go.

Arrow of Light & Bridging Ceremony See Scouting Magazine Visit Council Office Research the Web Get Webelos to do part Invite Webelos 1 and Bears! Involve the Cubmaster Take Slow. Do Not Rush it! Emphasis on Highest Award Plan a Celebration Celebrate at Blue/Gold Dinner? Congratulate Scouts on Completing the program. Praise and Honor Den Leaders & Parents. Bridging Have a Bridge! Have Scoutmasters Involved Welcome Scouts into Troops. Have Troops give something to Scout. Neckerchief Special Unit Patch etc Scouts not planning on Continuing Have them Bridge Also!! Have Scoutmasters Congratulate them! They worked hard too!
