What is a rain forest? A rainforest is a place where animals live, plants grow, and the weather is hot and damp. The rainforest is by the Equator. It is only 6% of the world’s surface.Half of the world’s animals live there.
Location of Rain Forests They are located in South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. They are all located around the equator.
Fascinating animals There are many fascinating animals like macaws and boas.
Emergent Layer The emergent layer is where the birds, toucans, harpy eagle, butterflies, monkeys and sloth live. Only the top of the trees show.
Canopy Layer In the canopy layer you can find three-toed sloth, toucans, parrots, boa, iguanas, birds, frogs, spider monkeys, insects, flowers, and vines.
Under story Layer In the Understory layer many animals live there like geckos, macaws, jaguars, snakes, spiders, parrots, butterflies, frogs, and tree porcupines.you can find many plants like vines, small trees, and bushes.
Forest Floor There are a lot of animals living there like anteaters, snakes, frogs, spiders, tapirs, earthworms, jaguars, and armadillos.The rafflesia is the biggest flower in the world and the smelliest flower ever.
Deforestation The trees are falling because of fires. People are cutting trees for their wood to make paper. People also cut trees for mining and farming.
People of the rainforest Some rainforest children don’t go to school. Their elders must teach them everything there is to know about life in the rain forest. Many rainforest people paint their bodies with colorful dyes and use feathers, flowers, and other natural materials to make pieces of jewelry.
