Outline ISʘIS Team Hardware Status Calibration Results Summary

ISʘIS Team

Hardware Status – EPI-Lo

EPI-Lo Status – FM Event Board Flight FPGA burned and installed Completed FM acceptance testing Ready for integration into the top assembly

EPI-Lo Status – FM Power Board Completed FM acceptance testing Removing excess parylene coating

EPI-Lo Status – Anode & Energy Bds Four FM Anode Boards complete, acceptance tested, and ready for next assembly Two FM Spare Anodes built Fifteen FM Energy Board / SSD Assemblies complete, acceptance tested, and ready for next assembly (8 FM and 7 FM Spare) EPI-Lo FM Anode Board, back side EPI-Lo FM Energy Boards, back side

EPI-Lo Status – FM Sensor Wedges 2 FM Spare Wedges Assembled and Calibrated at LBNL 3 FM Wedges Assembled and vacuum-tested with sources 11 upper wedge subassemblies complete 9 MCP assemblies complete and tested

EPI-Lo Calibration at LBNL Completed Calibration of 2 FM Spare Sensor Wedges at LBNL in March 2016

Hardware Status – EPI-Hi

EPI-Hi Status – Electronics Boards Ebox assembled with all FM boards LVPS, Bias Supply, DPU, LET1, LET2, and HET Boards All FM boards populated with FM parts (except FPGA) FM Flex-Circuits to Telescopes

EPI-Hi – FM Telescopes All FM Telescopes fabricated Minor mechanical updates incorporated into LET1 & LET2 and being completed on HET telescope bodies Progress made on improved screening to find detector wire-bonds issues (breakage on one extreme, sagging on the other) EMI closeout of cabling to telescopes is behind schedule but parts should be complete mid-October

EPI-Hi Team – TAMU Calibration Performed Calibration at Texas A&M Test Dates: June 14-18, 2016 K500 Cyclotron: N14, Ne20, Ar40 and Kr78 beams 56 hours beam time LET1 A, HET A and LET2 tested K150 Cyclotron: Proton beam 13 hours beam time HET A and LET1 A tested 14 ISʘIS team members supported the test at TAMU over a 13 day period. Many other involved with pre-test preparations. 24/7 coverage June 13-18

EPI-Hi Team – MSU Calibration Performed Calibration at Michigan State University Test Dates: July 19-21, 2016 K1200 Cyclotron S2 Vault – SEE line Ni58 beam, 160 MeV/nucleon 44 hours beam time LET1 A, LET1 B, HET A and LET2 tested 14 ISʘIS team members supported the test at MSU over an 8-day period Many others involved with pre-test preparations. 24/7 coverage July 19-21

Summary Almost all ISʘIS FM hardware is complete Integration and Testing has gone well Extensive calibrations performed on FM hardware to ensure performance requirements are met Full FM Integration and Testing expected to complete in October 2016 Pre Environmental Reviews being scheduled for October 2016 Projected delivery to spacecraft in January 2017
