Where is the Middle East?

The Holy City of Mecca Mecca is the most important city in Islam. It is where Islam was born and where Muhammad ruled. The Kaa’ba is there, a large black box which contains the most important artefact of Islam, a piece of rock from Heaven found by Abraham. Millions visit each year, and only Muslims are allowed to enter the city.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world Islam is the main religion in the Middle East It was founded by Muhammad in 610 CE Islam believes “There is one God, Allah, and the prophet Muhammad was his messenger” Islam means “submission to God”

The Five Pillars Islam has five main duties and beliefs which all Muslims should carry out. These are called the Five Pillars and they support the entire faith. Salah Prayer Fasting Hajj Pilgrimmage to Mecca Zakah Giving to Charity Shahadah - declaration of faith

ALL MUSLIMS SHOULD Declare their faith - There is one God, Allah and Muhammad is his messenger Fast during the holy month of Ramadan Pray five times a day, facing the direction of Mecca Give 10 % of what they earn to charity Visit the holy city of Mecca at least once in their lifetime
