The earth ,sun, and moon By: Ava Schwartz
Size: Earth: The Earth is about One Million times smaller than the sun leaving it at 3,959 miles across. Moon: The Moon is 50 times smaller than the Earth leaving it at 1,079 miles across. Sun: The Sun is 432,474 miles across.
Atmosphere Earth: The Earth has a strong atmosphere that protects us from asteroids. Moon: The Moon does not have an atmosphere to protect it from asteroids. Sun: The Sun does have an atmosphere just like us to be protected.
Water Water Earth: The Earth is made of 75% water and the rest is land. Moon: The Moon has shown water particles in the polar region. Sun: The Sun has NO water it is to HOT and made of gases.
Gravity Earth: Gravity on the Earth is 6 times stronger than on the Moon. Moon: The Moon has barely any gravity and is 6 times weaker than on the Moon. Sun: The Sun has very strong gravity because the gases in the Sun are packed so tightly together making it incredibly dense.
Rotation Times Earth: The Earth takes 24 hours to rotate on its axis. Moon: The Moon takes 27 days to rotate on its axis. Sun: The Sun takes 24.47 days to rotate on its axis.
Craters and Landforms Earth: The Earth does not have many craters but there are a couple out there, The Earth does have a lot of landforms and lots of water 75% and some land (rocks). Moon: The moon has lots of craters and a rocky surface. Sun: The Sun is made of gas and has sun spots
Weathering and Erosion Earth: The Earth has wind and water which causes Weathering and erosion. Moon: The moon has not a lot of water and no wind so it does not have Weathering and Erosion. Sun: The Sun has no water or wind to cause Weathering and Erosion.
Time to revolve around each-other Earth: The Earth revolves around the Sun every 365 days-1 year. Moon: The amount of time it takes the Moon to revolve around The Earth is 29.5 days. Sun: The Sun does not revolve around anything.
Other Cycles Earth: Moon: Sun: The Earth’s other cycles are is the Seasons which are caused by the Earth being tilted on it’s axis. axis. Moon: The Moon’s other cycles help the Earth because they are the Moon’s gravitational pull which causes our tides. Sun: The Sun’s other cycles are pretty much the rising and setting the Sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
Temperatures Earth: The Earth is about 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Moon: The Moon is about 243 degrees Fahrenheit. Sun: The Sun is about 9,941 degrees Fahrenheit.
