VINC/VICT Latin – VINCERE/VICTUM “to conquer” Invincible: adj. Unable to be conquered Latin: in, “not” + vincere = not able to be conquered Although the Romans thought of themselves as invincible, they were eventually conquered. Synonym: Invulnerable Antonym: Vulnerable

VINC/VICT Latin – VINCERE/VICTUM “to conquer” Provincial: adj. Limited in knowledge of the world; Latin: pro, “forward” + vincere = having to with a conquered territory Rory’s somewhat provincial outlook made it difficult for her to understand what people in other parts of the world were going through.
